WatchCat Terms of Service

In plain language: WatchCat is a browser extension that counts your watch time and helps you hold a daily limit. The core is free. Pro is an optional subscription that renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time. We do not offer discretionary refunds — see the Refund and Cancellation Policy. These Terms are the agreement between you and us; the Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.
1. Who we are and how to reach us
WatchCat is operated by Individual Entrepreneur Stefan Popov, registered in Georgia (“WatchCat”, “we”, “us”). In these Terms, “you” means the person who installs the extension, creates an account, or buys a subscription.

Paid subscriptions are sold through Paddle, which acts as the merchant of record. It is the seller of record for the payment transaction, issues your invoice, and appears on your card or bank statement. Section 6 explains what that means for you.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
You accept these Terms when you install or use the WatchCat extension, create a WatchCat account, or complete a checkout for a paid plan. If you do not accept them, do not use WatchCat. Where a registration form or consent screen asks you to agree to these Terms, ticking that box is acceptance of this document.
You must have the legal capacity to enter into a contract where you live. WatchCat is not directed to children under 13, and you may not create an account for a child under 13. Where local law requires a higher age or parental authorization for an online account or a paid subscription, do not create or pay for one without that authorization.
3. What WatchCat is
WatchCat is a browser extension for Chromium browsers — Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera, and Arc — distributed through the Chrome Web Store, together with a web dashboard at app.getwatchcat.com. It measures how long you watch on supported sites, currently YouTube, Netflix, X, and TikTok, counts short-form and long-form viewing separately, and lets you set daily limits that pause the feed with a calm soft block, hold-to-unlock friction, and an optional PIN and time lock.
The Free plan runs in your browser and keeps its history there. Encrypted cloud history and settings sync are available only on eligible Pro accounts, and begin only after you connect the extension to an account and affirmatively consent. The Privacy Policy is the authoritative description of what is stored where.
WatchCat is a self-directed habit tool. It is not security software, parental control, employee monitoring, a content filter, or medical, psychological, or financial advice. Its limits are friction, not enforcement: you can change them, unlock them, disable the extension, or uninstall it at any time, and that is by design. Measurements are approximate and supported sites can change their pages at any time.
4. Your account
An account is personal and is for one person. Give an email address you control, keep your credentials safe, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for activity under your account. Do not share, sell, rent, or sublicense access to a paid plan.
You can delete your account from the dashboard. Because an active paid subscription is a live billing relationship, an active subscription must be cancelled before account deletion can finish. Deletion removes account-linked WatchCat data as described in the Privacy Policy; Paddle may retain transaction, tax, and invoice records that it is legally required to keep.
We may suspend or restrict an account that breaches these Terms, that is used unlawfully, or where suspension is needed to protect the service or other users.
5. Plans, prices, and taxes
WatchCat offers two plans. Free costs $0 and does not expire. Pro costs $5 per month or $50 per year. All prices are in USD and are exclusive of tax unless the checkout states otherwise.
VAT, sales tax, and equivalent charges are determined and collected by Paddle at checkout based on the location and tax details you provide, and the total is shown to you before you pay. We do not set or collect those amounts ourselves.
The plans and prices shown at getwatchcat.com and in the dashboard are the current ones. We may change prices or what a plan includes. A price change applies to you from your next renewal, and we will tell you before that renewal so you can cancel first if you prefer.
6. Orders, payment, and merchant of record
Checkout is hosted by Paddle, which handles payment methods, authorisation, invoicing, tax, and the descriptor that appears on your statement. Your order confirmation, receipt, and invoice come from it, and its own terms and refund policy apply to the payment transaction alongside these Terms.
Card, tax, and invoice details are entered directly with Paddle. WatchCat never receives or stores your payment-card data. We receive the subscription state — plan, billing period, status, and current-period end — needed to grant and reconcile your paid access.
7. Subscription term and automatic renewal
Pro is a recurring subscription that renews automatically. When you complete checkout you authorise Paddle to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. A monthly plan renews every month and an annual plan renews every year, at the then-current price for your plan, until you cancel.
The renewal date for your current period is shown in the dashboard under Profile → Subscription. Cancelling before that date stops the next charge; see Section 10. If a renewal payment fails, Paddle may retry it, and paid features may be suspended until payment succeeds or the subscription ends.
8. Delivery and fulfilment
WatchCat is a digital service. There is nothing to ship and no physical goods are supplied. Once Paddle confirms your payment, the paid entitlement is applied to the WatchCat account matching the email used at checkout, normally within a few minutes. You will see it in the dashboard, and in the extension after you sign in on that device.
If your paid features have not appeared shortly after payment, sign out and back in once, then email hello@getwatchcat.com with your order or receipt reference from your confirmation email and the account email address, and we will fix it.
9. Changing your plan
You can move between monthly and annual billing from the dashboard. A change takes effect immediately: the new billing period applies as soon as Paddle accepts it, and the dashboard shows the plan you are on. Nothing is scheduled for later, so there is nothing to wait for and nothing to call off.
The money follows the direction of the change, and it is prorated either way. Moving from monthly to annual billing is charged straight away for the remainder of the current period at the new price. Moving from annual back to monthly applies just as immediately, and the difference in your favour becomes credit against your next invoice rather than a payment back to your card.
10. Cancellation
You can cancel at any time, without giving a reason, from the dashboard under Profile → Subscription, or through the billing portal linked from your receipt. Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end your current period: you keep paid access until the “Access until” date shown in the dashboard, and you can undo the cancellation before that date.
After that date the account returns to Free. The extension keeps working, keeps tracking locally, and keeps enforcing your limits. Cloud history transfer stops, and stored cloud data is handled under the retention rules in the Privacy Policy. What is and is not refundable is set out in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
11. Refunds
Fees for a billing period that has already started are not refundable, and cancelling stops future renewals rather than refunding the current period. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights, including a statutory right of withdrawal where one applies, and Paddle may issue a refund under its own policy. 12. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use WatchCat to monitor, restrict, or report on another person without their knowledge and agreement. WatchCat is for adults choosing to watch less; it is not parental control or employee monitoring.
- Share, resell, rent, sublicense, or otherwise provide paid access to anyone else.
- Circumvent entitlement checks, fair-use limits, or the billing flow, or attempt to obtain paid features without paying for them.
- Access the WatchCat API other than through the extension and dashboard, or scrape, crawl, or bulk-query the service.
- Copy, modify, decompile, or reverse engineer WatchCat, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it despite this restriction.
- Interfere with the service, probe it for vulnerabilities without our written permission, or use it to distribute malware or unlawful content.
- Use WatchCat unlawfully, or in a way that infringes someone else's rights.
The sites you visit have their own terms, and using WatchCat does not change your obligations to them.
13. Your data
Your watching data is yours. You grant us only the limited, non-exclusive licence needed to run the service for you: to store, process, transmit, and sync your data. We do not sell it, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
How we handle personal data is governed by the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Export and deletion controls are in the dashboard.
14. Intellectual property and trademarks
The WatchCat name, logo, mascot, extension, dashboard, website, and their content are owned by us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use WatchCat for your personal, non-commercial purposes for as long as these Terms apply. Nothing else is granted.
YouTube, Netflix, X, TikTok, Google, Chrome, Microsoft, and Edge are trademarks of their respective owners. WatchCat is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise connected to any of them. Their names are used only to describe which sites and browsers WatchCat works with.
15. Third-party services and distribution
The extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store, and your installation and use of it are also subject to Google's terms and the Chrome Web Store policies. Where a future release is distributed through another store, that store's terms apply to it.
WatchCat depends on third-party providers, including Supabase, FIL.ONE, Paddle, Cloudflare, Resend, and our hosting provider. Those services are outside our control and are governed by their own terms. Supported sites can change their pages at any time, which may degrade or break tracking or blocking until we ship a fix.
16. Availability and support
We aim to keep WatchCat available and working, but we do not commit to an uptime service level. We may carry out maintenance, take features offline temporarily, and change how the service is delivered. Support is provided on a reasonable-effort basis through the support page and hello@getwatchcat.com. We may add, change, or remove features; where we materially reduce a paid feature, we will give reasonable notice.
17. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, WatchCat is provided “as is” and “as available”, and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
In particular, we do not warrant that watch-time figures are exact, that tracking will capture every session on every supported site, that limits will prevent any particular behaviour, that the soft block cannot be bypassed, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing here excludes warranties or consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the law that applies to you.
18. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost time, or loss of goodwill, however caused.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to WatchCat is limited to the greater of the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or $50.
These limits do not apply to fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law that applies to you. You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your unlawful use of WatchCat or your breach of Section 12.
19. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if a payment fails or is charged back, or if we are required to do so by law or by a provider we depend on. Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put things right.
You may terminate at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting your account. On termination your licence to use WatchCat ends and paid access stops at the end of the period you have already paid for. Sections 13, 14, 17, 18, and 22 survive termination.
20. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the service, the plans, our providers, or the applicable rules change. For material changes we will change the version and effective date at the top of this page and give notice by email or in the product before the change applies to your next renewal. Editorial corrections may not trigger a notice.
Continuing to use WatchCat after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, cancel before your next renewal and stop using the service. Earlier versions may be requested by email.
21. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Georgia, and the competent courts of Georgia have jurisdiction over disputes arising from them.
If you are a consumer resident in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer-law rules of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. Consumers in the EEA may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform. Please email hello@getwatchcat.com first — most problems are faster to fix directly.
22. General
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Refund and Cancellation Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about WatchCat. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. We may transfer these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of the business; you may not transfer them without our consent. Neither party is liable for failures caused by events outside its reasonable control. Notices to you are sent to your account email address. These Terms are written in English, and the English text prevails over any translation.
